For instance, if there is a correlation coefficient r between the independent variable and the dependent variable, the variation of r would be equal to the variation of the independent variable. Then, researchers will need to measure the relationship between the variables by using the chi-square test. Because the chi-square test will give them the formula for the difference between the variance of the independent variable and the variation of the independent variable, researchers will be able to estimate the difference between the dependent variable and the independent variable.In the figure above, you can see that the researchers found the difference between the variance of the independent variable and the variation of the independent variable and they calc ulated the standardized difference. This standardized difference will provide researchers with an estimate of the variance of the independent variable and the dependence of the independent variable on the dependent variable.
